Yesterday I had a chance to attend my first
photography seminar, with my sister and her friend. I just loved it so much and thought it was such a great experience to hear
Sandy Puc', a master photographer based out in Littleton, Colorado, speak. She started photography at age 17 and has been doing it since for 22 years. Besides being a full-time photographer,(she does 8-10 sessions a day),every year she puts together national tours to teach and instruct other photographers about her photography and business strategies. This year was the Tots 2 Teens Tour and last year was the Babies and Bellies Tour which I wish I would have gone to.
The reason I think she has become so successful in this industry is not just because she is such a great photographer but because of how well she has marketed herself. I think that is a key component that she emphasized with her success in the business. She shared a lot of her successful marketing strategies which I thought were brilliant and she went over her tactics for photographing tots and teens which I thought was extremely helpful.
Her photography company,
Expressions Photography, also tries to give back to the community by sponsoring portraiture fundraisers to help out different organizations like
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, which is a non-profit organization which provides portraiture services to families whose babies will never leave the hospital. In the past she has put together portraiture fundraisers for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Locks of Love, Operation Smile and many other foundations. It's really inspiring to hear how much she gives back to the community. I'm so glad I had a chance to go to one of her seminars and hopefully next year I'll be able to attend another one of her great seminars!!
